Commitment

Another key to a healthy marriage is Commitment.

I’ve heard a lot of jokes made about commitment, especially when it comes to relationships. Whether or not they are appropriate jokes, once you are in a marriage, commitment is not a joke, but it can be a blessing.

In a marriage, you have declared that your spouse is the one for you. You have made a promise, a sacred one.

Good questions to consider regarding commitment in marriage and family include:

  • Do you ever remember someone breaking a promise? How did it make you feel?
  • Have you broken a promise recently? Did you apologize?
  • When your child breaks a promise, how do you talk to him or her about the consequences of it?
  • How are you teaching your children about the importance of keeping commitments?
  • Are you keeping promises that you’ve made to your spouse?
  • Are you keeping promises that you’ve made to God?

In my next post, I’ll continue with the subject of commitment.
