A few years ago, we had a plant start to take over the others in our front garden. We spent hours that summer digging out the roots to get it out of garden, but each year a few of those pesky roots are still in there and start to try to take over again.

It is frustrating to think that we finally got it out, only to see it come back again each spring.

Weeds are also a sign of neglect…a sign that we missed something, or let the garden go on its own for too long.

Just like weeds in a garden, the “weeds” in our lives can keep coming back.

What weeds are you fighting back?

“And as for what fell among the thorns, they are those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by the cares and pleasures of life, and their fruit does not mature.” Luke 8:14

What cares and pleasures in life are growing like weeds in your life?

In the next few posts, I’ll write about some specific “weeds” that we could encounter…

  1. Ironic, but I’ve purchased a bunch of Roundup to take care of a very persistent weed in the community flower garden today. It’s been a project to wipe it out for the past few years, and like most things, it’s a battle that’s never won. It requires persistence and work to keep the weeds at bay. Unless we put energy into defeating these things, they will take over.
