Spiritual shape

Continuing with the last several posts, we come to spiritual shape. How can you connect to God while getting back into spiritual shape?

Here are some ideas:

  • God is with us every moment of our lives…whether we are at a low point or a high point in our spiritual life. He wants to be with us…remembering that is a step in itself.
  • Pray for God to be with you. Even if you don’t have this huge “feeling” occur in your heart during this prayer, God is still there. You don’t have to “feel” it for Him to be there, He already is if you have asked Him to be.
  • Spend time reading the bible. Make realistic goals when doing this. Pick a number of chapters to read per day or week, some from the Old Testament (the first 39 books), and some from the New Testament (the books at the end). If you are not sure where to start, you might want to try Proverbs or Psalms from the Old Testament and John from the New Testament first.
  • Ask a pastor or church leader that you trust for guidance.
  • When you talk to God, do it in a quiet place. Don’t rush, and don’t worry if you don’t “feel” God’s presence every moment. Just try to relax and talk to Him…and stop and listen too.
