Garage sale treasures

We had a garage sale recently, and it never ceases to amaze me how something that can seem so unimportant to one person can seem like a true treasure to another. The simplest items get enthusiastically purchased, those same simple items that I was happy to get out of my house!

Sometimes I’ve heard people struggle with not seeing themselves as “treasure”, feeling that they might not be worth the time, effort, or love of someone else. Yet to our Lord we are all treasures. People are treasures to God.

In Deuteronomy 7:6, God says: “For you are a people holy to the Lord your God. The Lord your God has chosen you to be a people for his treasured possession.”

Inanimate objects at a garage sale may have value to someone while they have no value to you. But God makes it clear that we have value in His eyes. You have value in His eyes. To God, you are a treasure.
