Daddy’s gift

Before father’s day, there is usually some conversation about what would be a good idea for father’s day gifts. Sometimes the gifts cost money, other times they are handmade, and other times they are pictures drawn with sweet notes by our children.

When it comes to our Heavenly Father, He is the provider of a gift every day, not just on father’s day. In Isaiah 55, we are reminded about the free gift of compassion from God our Father.

Isaiah 55 begins with “Come, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your labor for that which does not satisfy? Listen diligently to me, and eat what is good, and delight yourselves in rich food. Incline your ear, and come to me; hear, that your soul may live; and I will make with you an everlasting covenant”.

We are offered God’s love without the requirement of money, with no cost attached. Instead of giving a gift, we are offered a gift.
