An easy load to carry

This post is part of a blog series on bible verses that give us inspiration and comfort.  Thank you for visiting!

Bible verses that comfort me:

Matthew 11:28-29

What I love about these verses:

I’m tired a lot, and the idea of rest from my worries and struggles brings me a lot of comfort!

These verses connect to current, daily life by:

Although most of us don’t spend a lot of time with animals who have yokes over their necks, it was a concept that connected with most people when these verses were written.

But even in today’s modern world, we have our own yokes that we find ourselves carrying. We carry yokes of worry about our family, finances, health, future, etc. We carry yokes of family disagreements, broken friendships, broken hearts. We carry yokes of pain, bullying, anger, sadness, exhaustion. And we try to do it on our own and wonder why we are so tired!!

But in these verses we are reminded about Jesus and His great love for us. We are reminded that Jesus wants to take our worries, our pain, our loss upon His shoulders. Instead He wants to give us an easy yoke to carry, one that is from Him and will give us rest rather than pain.

Just as a parent wants to take away their child’s pain when she falls and cuts her knee, Jesus wants to take away our pain. He wants to give us Himself.

  1. Life cracks me up…I was JUST saying this exact bible verse this morning and wondering which of the evangelists recorded it. Thanks for catching my thoughts and answering my query.
