I forgot the Oscars

A little over a month ago a friend of mine sent me an email about the Oscar Award Ceremony the previous night.  I don’t really pay attention to those kinds of shows anymore, so I hadn’t even realized it was on until I saw people’s comments on Facebook about it!

As I thought about how excited the Oscar winners must be, I also thought about how the day after must be a hard day for those who had hoped to win, but didn’t.

There are days like that for all of us…days that we hope to win and yet someone else does. Days when we hope to shine and yet fall short. Days when we hope to get accolades, money, awards, first place, high grades, you name it…and at the end of the day we are sometimes disappointed.

In Hebrews 13:5-8 we’re reminded to be content with what we have…

-Do you have food to eat? Be content…

-Do you have clothes on your body? Be content…

-Do you have shelter? Be content…

-Do you have so much more than that? Be content…

What helps you to remember to be content?
