A sister’s finger points toward her sibling, “He broke it!”

We can all relate to being blamed for something. We may have even been punished for something someone else did. Siblings, in particular, love to blame each other for mishaps. From the beginning of time people have tried to shift the blame (think Adam and Eve), avoid the punishment (remember Jacob and Esau), and even lie to get out of trouble (oh, there are lots of examples of this!)

Our culture pushes us to blame others rather than take responsibility. People spend more time trying to get away with things than owning up to their mistakes. Media blames everyone but themselves for the dysfunction that is our culture today. Blogs, facebook messages, and tweets abound with attacks of who is to blame for this, that, and you name it.

But in the Bible we are told that if we believe in Jesus, He will take our sins on Himself, and we will be seen as blameless in God’s eyes. Eyes that won’t look back on our mistakes, sins, bad moves, and stupid moments; but will see us a His child, His precious forgiven child.

God’s Word says:

Ephesians 1:3-4 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him.”

2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.”

  1. Thank you Cathi, isn’t it amazing how we read the very things we need at the very time we need them? Peace be with you!
