Bad blush

I felt my face flush to a dark red, my bad blush clearly showing my embarrassment. Mistakes – everyone makes them, and no likes to be the center of attention when they do! Looking foolish is embarrassing. Whether it’s slipping on wet pavement in front of others, saying the wrong word and getting laughed at, or not knowing the answer to a question we should know the answer to; embarrassment is something we’ve all felt.

Our culture has become one that delights in pointing at others to embarrass them, to blame them. People sue for spilled coffee for goodness sakes! And when the blaming finger gets pointed at you, it’s embarrassing. It’s lonely. It’s demoralizing. It is a blow to your ego, a reminder that that you are indeed NOT perfect.

Jesus was blamed too, throughout His ministry, even though He was sinless. He was blamed for breaking laws, blamed for healing on the Sabbath, blamed for blasphemy, and more. Fingers pointed at Him as people called out “crucify him”! He was pointed at, beaten, condemned, laughed at, and on and on. And yet, He survived it all. He conquered it all. He mastered those who would try to master Him. He did this because of His unending love for you.

God’s Word says:

Isaiah 53:5

“But he was pierced for our transgressions;
    he was crushed for our iniquities;
upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace,
    and with his wounds we are healed.”

Ephesians 4:29

“Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.”

  1. The Ephesians verse is the perfect ending thought….
