Walking in Good Works

The gift of grace is really amazing. We can’t do anything to “get to heaven” – God does it all. We have to simply believe in Jesus, who came to save us.

When we become Christians, we get more than even that…we get a desire to love back…that’s where the good works come in.

The order is not: God loves us because we did good works.

The order is:

1.God loves us. 2. We love God. 3.We do good works because we are loved and God created us to “walk in good works.”

Where are we told this? In Ephesians 2:8-10, it says, “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”

I love that last phrase…that we should walk in them. When do we “walk in good works”? Every time you make a meal for a friend in need, you are walking in good works. Every time you help out with a project at church, you are walking in good works. Every time you give items of your own to a donation center, you are walking in good works.

You were made by an amazing God. The God of the entire universe made you. And He knows even before you know which good works you will walk in. 1.God loves us. 2. We love God. 3.We do good works because we are loved and God created us to “walk in good works.”
